Friends Report 2017

One in four have been exposed to acts of degrading treatment by another student in the past year.

Every autumn when the kids go back to school, the Friends Report is released. In this year’s report, 43,337 children from preschool to grade 9 have answered questions on bullying and degrading treatment.

Key findings

  • 25 % have been exposed to degrading treatment from other students (27% of girls, 16% of boys)
  • 10 % have been subjected to bullying by another student
  • 10 % have been subjected to degrading treatment by a member of school staff
  • 23 % of children from preschool to grade 3 are worries about being alone at break time
  • The most unsafe places in school are toilets, changing rooms, corridors
